Research on Kolkata City Parks
In 2011 ccckolkata conducted the first ever survey of the Kolkata City Parks. Field researchers collected a list of Parks from Secondary sources:
- Lists available with Kolkata Improvement Trust (KIT, UD Department, GOWB)
- Lists available with Urban & Recreational Forestry (Department of Forestry, GOWB)
- Lists available on the website of the Department of Parks & Gardens, Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC)
- NATMO Publications
- Lists available with NGOs
- Consultations with individual 141 Ward Offices
The above lists were organized according to the KMC Wards. Field surveys were then conducted. 2 teams of researchers comprising of 2 members and a car travelled the length and breadth of the city of Kolkata collecting names, addresses, photographs and GPS readings of each of these Parks.
This Field Survey took ccckolkata 6 months to complete.
Results was disseminated to the residents of Kolkata and shared with the Department of Parks & Gardens, KMC.
The above List was updated in 2012 and in 2014-15.
In 2014-15 Survey, Regional Remote Sensing Centre (RRSC) of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) gave technical support to ccckolkata. They guided cccKolkata on the correct methods of collecting GPS readings.
The KMC is using data generated by ccckolkata in its planning and conservation work for the Kolkata City Parks.

Data collected in the CCCkolkata Kolkata City Parks Survey 2011 was published as a Directory of Kolkata Parks. This is the First ever such Directory.

ccckolkata City Parks Survey conducted in 2014-15 with technical support from RRSC-ISRO has been published on an interactive website on ISRO’s Bhuvan Platform for easy access by the residents of this city.
